Marbled Eggs

Getting into Easter decoration I decided to make some marbled eggs. I've done it before a few years ago. I'm sharing the tutorial with you here so you can try it yourself.

What do you need:

♦ some eggs of course (I've chosen white ones for this marble effect)
♦ nail polish, any colour you like
♦ stir stick
♦ plastic container
♦ water (room temperature)
♦ nail polish remover (for cleaning up afterwards)
♦ rubber gloves (you should use those believe me, it can get messy)

You can boil the eggs (I don't think you can eat them afterwards, with the nail polish on it) or blow them out. I made it a bit easier and just ticked a small hole on the bottom, emptied the eggs (you can make an omelette or mayonnaise perhaps) and than rinsed them with tap water.

The water needs to be at room temperature, if it's to cold the nail polish sinks to the bottom. You drop some nail polish into the water, the more you use the darker they get, but you don't want it to be to thick, and gently swirl a marble effect with the stick.

Next dip the eggs under water and swirl a bit wearing the rubber gloves. Take them out again and let them dry.

And this is how they finally turned out. Each one looks different. Don't be discouraged if the first one fails (mine did) just take a deep breath and try again.

Do try!

And no worries. They don't need to be perfect, they just needs to be marbled ☺

Simple Easter DIY

My yearly Easter deco isn't as exuberant as at Christmas time, but I try do do a little bit of it every year. This year I wanted to decorate some Easter Branches, but in my style, monochrome.
You probably know by now I'm not that colorful. So here's what I did.

Over the year I gathered some feathers which I found in my garden. I sticked them on a piece of card board with some wasi tape all neatly in line.

Next I covered them up with some paper, but let the top of the feathers stick out like this

Now the fun part. Spray Paint!  Of course you can use any color you want, I went for gold.
O, please take your feathers outside before you start spraying ;)

Take of the paper carefully and you see a perfect straight line! Just wait for them to dry now.

All dried, I love how they look so we can go on with our diy

And that's not hard also, just hang them randomly in the branch. I used some flower wire which I attached to the pin of the feather and then bend it into a small hook.

For the final result I added some plastic eggs which I wrapped into white blotting paper and finished off with some rope.  Et voila!

All prepared for Easter now ♥

a small gift of nature

The egg I found this morning in my garden and when I glanced up I saw the nest hanging on a branch . It could not be saved anymore. I carefully placed it on a silver platter and is now on my dining table. A little (Easter) gift of mother nature.

Ei

De week voor pasen, dacht dat het tijd werd om ook eens een ei te plaatsten. Ik ben niet zo creatief als sommigen van jullie, meer van het snel en makkelijk :o)

The week before Easter, I thought it was time to have show some eggs.  I'm not as creative as some of you, more of the fast and easy: o)

Simpel!

The egg tray, my grandmother bought it in the beginning of her marriage. It will therefore be about 85 years old. No real silver, but it's nice.  I  tied a white tissue paper around the eggs. Simple!
